Home Minister Araga Gyanendra visited the prison after hearing of irregularities in Parappa's Agrahara Jail.

Home Minister Araga Gyanendra today made a surprise visit to the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru after hearing of allegations that the accused who have been arrested in the case of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha's murder are being given royal hospitality in jail.

On this occasion, he held a consultation with the senior officers and staff and got information about the problems faced by the prisoners in the jail, security system, medical facilities.

He warned that any illegal activity in prisons will not be tolerated and strict legal action will be taken against the culprits.

A search was made inside Parappa's Agrahara Jail. A lot of people were transferred on the report of the Murugan committee. We have transferred 25 people including DIG. We have suspended those named in the Murugan report. 15 jail officials have been suspended. 3800 remand prisoners and 1100 sentenced prisoners are in jail.

An FIR will be filed against the staff who were helping and a criminal case will be filed. An investigation is underway to determine whether the Harsha murder criminals were on the loose and used mobile phones.

It has been decided to install state-of-the-art technology mobile jammers in the central jails and action will be taken to disable mobile calls up to 5G capacity. He said that he has instructed to curb illegal activities like illegal supply of drugs inside the jail, illegal giving of special privileges to prisoners and use of mobile phones.

If the inmates inform about the illegal activities inside the prison, their sentences will be reduced. He said that if the staff catches them, they will be given a reward of 2000.
